Hunter Ash is an abstract painter living and working in Austin, Texas. Born and raised in Basalt, Colorado, Hunter developed an early affinity for the natural world, spending much of her time outdoors - an influence that continues to shape her visual language. Her paintings explore the rhythms of faith, emotion, and the nuances of human experience in everyday life through layered, intuitive compositions that move between abstraction and the suggestion of elements from the natural world.
Hunter received her BFA in studio art from Baylor University in 2018. Her work has been exhibited throughout Texas, including presentations with Big Medium’s Austin Art Studio Tour, Fort Works Art Gallery, the Dallas Arboretum, Austin Art Garage and others. She completed an artist residency at Suttle Lodge in Sisters, Oregon where she expanded her experience in plein air painting and abstract landscapes. Her work has been featured by EASTside Magazine and other publications and is held in private and commercial collections across the United States.
